Steven Glover
Founder & Principal Consultant
Steven Glover founded Glover Works after nearly three decades working inside nonprofit, professional, association and mission-driven organizations: leading operations, developing education, improving systems, implementing technology, and turning complicated problems into practical solutions.
His career has included work with organizations such as the Laser Institute of America, the Fenestration Manufacturing Society, United Cerebral Palsy, and other nonprofit and professional organizations. That experience spans executive leadership, education, technology, standards and safety, organizational operations, process improvement and implementation.
Steven spent more than a decade with the Laser Institute of America, working across multiple areas of the organization before becoming Chief Operating Officer. The work sat at the intersection of professional education, publishing, technology, conferences, organizational management and nationally recognized laser-safety standards. He has also worked with industry and other stakeholders on initiatives intended to improve safety, including efforts involving legislation and public policy.
Making complex organizations easier to operate
One thing Steven has consistently been recognized for is seeing unnecessary complexity that everyone else has learned to live with. He can take a bloated process, work out what actually needs to happen, remove the steps that do not, and rebuild it so it is simpler and works better.
Just as importantly, he can explain complicated systems, policies and technical information in language people understand. That combination is central to how he works: understand the problem, simplify the process, explain it clearly, make it work.
He also starts from the assumption that organizational problems are connected. A training issue is often a process problem. A technology problem often begins with poor information flow. A compliance issue often starts with unclear responsibilities. Finding those connections is usually where the real improvement is.
Building education systems
Education has been a major part of Steven's career. He has developed and delivered professional education everywhere from organizational classrooms and leadership programs to institutions including Mount Sinai.
More substantially, he has built comprehensive education programs for large nonprofit organizations: curriculum, instructor development, classroom and online learning, assessment, certification, registration, reporting, technology and the administrative systems underneath all of it.
The philosophy is straightforward. Training is not successful because someone attended a class. It is successful when people can do the job better afterwards, which means the education has to connect to the systems, processes and responsibilities they return to.
Technology should help people
Steven does not treat technology, or artificial intelligence, as a replacement for people. Good systems remove repetitive work, reduce frustration, make information easier to find, improve decisions, and give people more time to use their judgement and experience.
Done properly that improves more than productivity. It makes somewhere better to work. He brings the same view to automation, software development, systems integration and AI.
From idea to implementation
Steven is not interested in recommendations that end with a report. Throughout his career he has built systems and then worked in the environments where they had to function.
His work supporting FABTECH included developing software and processes to track laser systems operating on the trade-show floor and to support safety and compliance. He then worked with those systems live, validating information, finding the problems and refining the process against actual use.
That is the principle behind Glover Works. A system is not finished when it has been designed. It is finished when it works for the people who depend on it.
What comes next
Steven's current personal project is a patent-pending artificial intelligence system exploring persistent memory, long-term continuity, and whether AI can eventually help recognize meaningful changes over time and support people experiencing cognitive decline.
The project is not really about artificial intelligence. It is about people, and it reflects the same view that guides the professional work: technology is most valuable when it increases human capability, preserves independence and reduces frustration.
Why Glover Works
After nearly three decades solving these problems from inside organizations, Steven started Glover Works to make that experience available to a wider range of nonprofit, public-sector, professional, association and mission-driven organizations.
He works particularly well with organizations that know something could be working better but do not yet know where the problem starts. Glover Works looks at the whole system, people, education, processes, information, technology and leadership, finds the unnecessary complexity and helps build something that can actually be implemented.
Not change for the sake of change. Not technology for the sake of technology. Not another report on a shelf.
A problem worth a conversation?
Describe it in your own words. You do not need it diagnosed first.
